Who Are We?

Royal Canadian Sea Cadets

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets is a free youth program for Boys and Girls ages 12 to 18.  In Sea Cadets you will have the opportunity to make new friends, play an instrument, go on trips, attend summer camps, gain valuable life skills and have fun doing it.

Why Sea Cadets?

If you’re a fan of nautical activities, action and adventure, love sports and getting to know people then you’re in the right place. Every year, sea cadets, adult leaders and volunteers take part in exciting events all over the country. And with more than 200 Corps across Canada, you could be one of them!

What Does It Cost To Join?

The Cadet Program is funded by the Department of National  Defence in partnership with the civilian Navy League, Army Cadet League and Air Cadet League of Canada. The civilian sponsor requires local community support to meet its obligations that include accommodations, training aids, and equipment and program enhancements not otherwise provided. Parents and cadets are expected to participate in and contribute to fundraising as required by the League’s local sponsoring element.

There is no cost for the uniform; however, you are responsible for it and are expected to take good care of it.

Are Sea Cadets Expected to Join the Military?

Absolutely not. Joining the Cadet program is a great way for youth to find out more about Canada, make friends and develop new skills that will be with them for life, no matter what career they choose.
